Present Day
Today, our 42-acre vineyard stretches across a sun-drenched mesa on the eastern portion of our 107-acre property. Since our inaugural planting in 1983, we’ve lovingly cultivated 38,000 vines – small in the world of wine, but huge to us. Our tasting room, surrounded by our working farm’s bounty, offers biodiversity in the form of olives, pomegranates, peonies, herbs, veggies, and, of course, our beloved peaches!
Over the years, we have grafted some of our original vines to other varietals. The biggest change is the addition of the Rhône varieties Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Grenache Blanc. Malbec was added to our palette of red Bordeaux reds, the Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc was added to give greater complexity and aromatics, and a bit of Chenin Blanc was planted in 2017 because, outside of the Loire Valley, Santa Barbara County is the best place to grow Chenin.
